Sam comes from a strong sporting family with his brother Josh playing for Manchester United reserves for over five years and his cousin Tom Whitehouse a fellow European Tour professional. His dad, Tim, was a Conference footballer but it was his uncle Bob who introduced him to golf at the age of six.
Having worked hard to develop his game and graduating through both the Mastercard and Challenge Tours, Sam progressed to the European Tour.
His 2007 season was a bit of an all or nothing affair; missing 18 cuts from 31 events but finishing in the top 25 nine times when he did feature at the weekend. His best European Tour performance to date came near his Birmingham home when he finished in a tie for fourth in The Quinn Direct British Masters at The Belfry.
Sam continues to work very hard on his game and is looking forward to continued success. An engaging individual, he is very popular with both his sponsors and fellow professionals.
